"Mi" - Winnowing Basket
This is an antique mi - popluarly known as a "dojyo sukui zaru". This is a Japanese traditional basket used for winnowing and also scooping up a certain kind of fish. It is also used in a famous dance which can be seen here.
This particular mi is handmade with bamboo and sakura branches (cherry blossom).
This was handmade by the Ito family. which is seen painted on the back.
This would be perfect to hang on the wall as a statement piece.
Condition:
This is over 60 years old so has some signs of wear.
