This is a vintage Japanese Maekake from a Miso and Shoyu Store. It is an indigo-dyed cotton canvas. For hundreds of years in Japan, maekake have been used as aprons by working men and women of rice shops, sake shops, miso shops and other stores. The material allows for great durability and wear.
