Black Shibori Heko Obi

Black Shibori Heko Obi

$50.00Price

This is a gorgeous black obi with Shibori technique used on the ends.

The heko obi is often worn with hanhaba-obi for Yukata.

Anything with shibori is a favorite! It is so stunning to look at and feel. Shibori is a Japanese term for methods of dyeing cloth by binding, stitching, folding, twisting, and compressing. This is also known as looped binding. It involves taking a hooked needle and plucking sections of the cloth. Then a thread is looped around each section twice. The thread is not knotted; tension is the only thing that holds the sections in place - an extremely time consuming creation that leaves a striking pattern and amazing texture!

Wear this with your new kimono! Alternatively mix it up and use it as a scarf or for your next Japanese inspired project. It is also big enough to use as a sarong.
